Burke is located south of the center of Fairfax County. Established in the 1800’s around a railroad station, this area blossomed around the success of the railroad industry. Nowadays, a Virginia Railway Express (VRE) station serves Burke, giving residents an easy and stress-free commuting option.
Once considered a site for a metropolitan airport for the D.C. area, the land purchased was developed into one of the area’s biggest outdoor attractions – Burke Lake Park. This park features over 200 acres of land which boasts several outdoor activities including jogging trails, picnic and sports areas, a golf course and driving range, miniature golf, boat rentals, an ice cream parlor, a carousel and more. Burke Lake Park is not the only offering for outdoor activities, as the area offers many parks and outdoor venues for its residents.
